Monster Children Issue #75
Monster Children Annual - Issue #75
Featuring the most stylish, the most innovative, the most Monster Children in our beloved worlds of skate, surf, music, art, and travel.
Our cover story: legendary Australian musical innovators, Avalanches, reexamine the digital age with a new album, No Bad Memories, explored through music, art, and film. The group revisits the forgotten clicks and dings of a computerized generation, draw lines between ephemeral sound and cultural development, and create music that is deliciously danceable. Art directed by Jonathan Zawada, who also designed one of Issue 75’s covers, the feature probes the group’s processes of creating this musical project across multiple mediums and formats.
Populating the rest of the issue with our favorite people, places, and things, was an incredibly easy task - so easy in fact that it was a challenge to pack it all in.
Actor/lawyer/curator Miah Madden discusses being good at absolutely everything; David Stenstrom ripping around Copenhagen; Creed McTaggart creating beautiful works of art between massive airs; the world in photos from Cuba to Palestine; a day with LA’s most dazzling band, Rocket; the enduring work of Barry McGee; learning to switch tre with Nick Boserio; Daniel Arnold and Jerry Hsu quizzing each other on photography hacks; advice from skateboarding’s most stylish AM; and much, much, much, much more.
